The "Trio" was composed after a commission that was never honored. I do not think that at that time I would have written spontaneously for this type of formation. There are no "conscious" references in the piece, but behind the musical intention of this trio, one can still perceive the shadow of Dmitri Shostakovitch's trios. A composer that I am particularly fond of.
